Dr. William E. Folson, D.F.C.P.

Chief Examiner

 

Dr. Folson has over twenty-four years of combined law enforcement and digital forensics experience and more than fourteen years of teaching experience in the field of digital forensics. His areas of expertise include computer forensics, video/audio clarification; and cell phone forensics, to include call record analysis and cell tower mapping.  He has also done extensive work with advanced persistent threats and malware reverse engineering.

 

Before starting the YDFL, William served as a senior forensic examiner with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), where he performed forensic examinations for the major crimes and counterintelligence/counterterrorism sections.  He also possesses extensive experience in the private sector, where he has provided forensic services to fortune 500 companies, law firms, and various federal, state and local investigative agencies, which include, the Department of Defense, the U.S. House of Representatives, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, and the Federal Office of the Public Defender. Dr. Folson served as the laboratory director and chief forensic examiner for the TecPort Digital Forensics Laboratory, located in Harrisburg, PA, from 2012-2015.

 

William has qualified as a digital forensics expert in federal, state, and military courts.  He is board certified as a Digital Forensics Certified Practitioner (DFCP) by the Digital Forensics Certification Board (DFCB), and a Certified Cyber Forensics Professional (CCFP) by ISC2.  William is also a Fellow at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.
